Make Your Site Live with GoDaddy

Now that you've got all your content ready, your website address purchased, and your email set up, it's time to launch your new site. You are now ready for the world to see your website!

There are only a few steps that you need to do to make your website live. Below are your instructions to making your website live with Go Daddy.

First Things First:

The first step is to find your new site's "IP Address". It's located in your Greenhouse Dashboard under Settings > Search Engine Settings. You'll see it on the right side under "Your I.P. Address". Copy this number and save it for the next steps.

Changing Your "A" Record

If you registered your domain name through godaddy.com, here are the steps you will take to make your website live:

1. Go to godaddy.com and log in with your username and password. The log-in box is at the top of the page.

2. After logging in to your account, you will click "My Account" in the top right corner.

3. On the left side of the page, you will notice a black navigation box. Under "Domains", click "Domain Manager".

4. Next you will be directed to a page that lists your domain(s) registered with Godaddy.com. These domains will be highlighted in blue text. Click on the domain you wish to point to your Clover site.

5. You'll now be at the main settings page for your domain. In the center of the page, under "DNS Manager", click the link that says "Launch".

"Total DNS Not Hosted Here"

*Note: If it says "(Not Hosted Here)" next to "Total DNS", then you will need to change your Nameservers back to their defaults. You can do this at the Nameservers section in the bottom left corner of the page. HOWEVER, this will also change all the other settings for your domain, which means that your email (MX) records will need to be set up again. You may want to stop and read our help article about Nameservers.

6.After clicking "Launch", you will be directed to a page that lists tables of different DNS records. Under the first table labeled "A (Host)", you will notice an "@" record within it. You will need to edit this existing record by clicking on the number listed under "Points to". In the "Points to" field, you will insert your site's IP address (the one that you wrote down from the beginning of this help article).

* If you do not see the DNS table like the one below, you will need to skip to steps 10 and 11. If you do, and are able to complete steps 6-9, your will be live within !

7. Click "Save Zone File" in the top right corner.

8. You will then be asked to confirm your changes. Click "Ok".

9. A box will appear notifying you that your zone file has been saved. Click "Ok".

*If you have completed steps 6-9, you can ignore steps 10-11.

10. For those of you who see an alternative DNS table:
After clicking "Launch", you will be directed to a page that lists tables of different DNS records. Under the first table labeled "A (Host)", you will notice an "@" record within it. You will need to edit this existing record by clicking on the "edit button" (the small paper and pencil icon).

11. A small box with three fields will pop up over the page. In the "Host Name" field, leave it as "@". In the "Points To Ip Address:" field, you will insert your site's IP address (the one that you wrote down from the beginning of this help article). Last, leave the "TTL" field at "1 hour". Click "OK". Another pop up window will open. Click "OK" again. You're done! Your site should be live within a couple hours. Go celebrate!
