Making Your Site Live with Register.com

Now that you've got all your content ready, your website address purchased, and your email set up, it's time to launch your new site. You are now ready for the world to see your website!

There are only a few steps that you need to do to make your website live. Below are your instructions for making your website live with Register.com.

First Things First:

The first step is to find your new site's "IP Address". It's located in your Greenhouse Dashboard under Settings > Search Engine Settings. You'll see it on the right side under "Your I.P. Address". Copy this number and save it for the next steps.

Changing Your "A" Record

If you registered your domain name through Register.com, here are the steps you will take to make your website live:

1. Go to Register.com and once you are there you will click on the link in the top right hand corner of the screen called "Your Account". You can also use the "Log In" link right below the "Your Account" button. From here you will log in with your username and password on the left hand side of the page.

2. After signing into your account, you will be directed to a page that lists your domain name(s). In the middle of the page you will notice your domain name(s) in blue. Click on the name of the domain that you want to take live.

3. The next page will appear to be somewhat the same however you are now on your DNS management page. All you have to do is scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see a table of records called "Advanced Technical Settings". In the column that has an "A" in it you will go over to the right and click on the Arrow Button that says Edit above it.

If "Advanced Techincal Settings" says, "You are unable to modify these settings because you are no longer on Register.com's DNS. Please click "Restore Default DNS Server settings" if you would like to switch back to Register.com's DNS." HOWEVER, this will change all the other settings for your domain, which means that your email (MX) records will need to be set up again. You may want to stop and read our help article about name servers.

4. On this page, there will already be three existing IP addresses in the right text box for the records "www", a blank text box, and "*(an asterisk)". In the text boxes on the right you will insert your Clover site's IP address (the one that you wrote down from the beginning of this help article).

*Note: Do not put in the IP address listed below, this is just an example.

5. Once you've entered your IP Address in the fields, click Continue once and then click Continue again on the next page.

6. You're done! Your site should be live within a couple hours, It can take up to 24 hours for everything to start showing up properly. Go celebrate!
